As chair of this first year,
American Cancer Society "Northern Oswego County" Relay For
Life, I would like to thank residents of Parish and the
surrounding communities for their generosity and support. It
was overwhelming seeing this community come together when
times are so tough, the mood was heartwarming. Thirty two
teams participated in this year's event, raising more than
$61,000 for the American Cancer Society's research,
education, advocacy and service programs. This outstanding
show of support proves that the people of Northern Oswego
County are truly committed to the fight against cancer and
together we can make a difference!
We were honored to be joined by 49 survivors who walked the opening Survivors Lap, officially kicking off this year's event. These survivors are the reason we continue the fight. Their participation inspires hope in those currently battling cancer. A special thanks to the many Relay For Life volunteers who worked to make this event a success, from serving food at the Survivor Dinner, to those who helped directing traffic and parking and those selling raffles tickets, etc., Special thanks to the building and grounds staff for a tremendous job done and the ACS staff who came along to volunteer their time. Thanks to Reality Check, Oswego County Tobacco Free Network & Oswego County Opportunities Health Educators for sharing their time and materials to raise awareness. The Relay For Life committee did an outstanding job of putting the event together.
