Ed was honorably discharged in March of 1966 as an Electricians mate second class.

Ed volunteered for submarine duty and received my submarine dolphins aboard the USS Diablo SS 479.

When the Diablo was transferred to the Pakistan Navy Ed was transferred to the USS Seaowl SS405.
